TWENTY17

TWENTY17 is a new company providing a variety of resources from motivational speaking in schools, colleges and for business to presentations on innovative ideas for teachers. In addition the experience offered by the team at TWENTY17 can provide support and advice on Adventure race preparation and from trekking to cycle tours. Those within the company aim to support those who wish to prepare for their personal challenge be it from running 10k to climbing Kilimanjaro. Founded by Richard Cheetham and in partnership with Ross Stirling, TWENTY17 is an innovative resource for teaching and adventure race preparation. Richard became a keen racing cyclist who rode in National Championships and raced in France during the 1980s. He has always had a sense of adventure and interest in travel and taking on challanges. In 1990 he ws part of a four man team to complete a relay cycle from John O Groats to Lands End in under 2 days, repeating the challenge the following year as a relay duathlon.

Richard CheethamDuring two years teaching and coaching in New Zealand, he was part of a successful provincial and club rugby teams resulting in being invited to work with the National U17 squad. After returning to England he worked as part of the England Rugby management team working at all representative levels and attended 4 World Championships

Alongside trekking the Inca Trail in Peru, Richard has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and in 2010 completed the Atacama Ultra Marathon. This consists of running 155 miles in six days across the world’s driest desert. It is regarded as the one of the world’s toughest endurance races. Richard speaks about the race, focusing on motivation and achievement and that ordinary people can do extra-ordinary things.
